My artistic style-I love making art with soul-Whether that be painting the way the light reflects on skin or capturing the flecks of color and light in someone’s eyes, it is all about painting the details in order to capture the humanity in every individual.
I combine classical techniques and ideology from artists like Artemisia Gentilishi and Diego Velasquez and throw in my own take on contemporary realism to acheive my own unique style. I am passionate about issues with women’s rights, social justice and diversity in the arts. When I am not putting together a portrait commission I am working on my own figurative paintings that center around those ideals.
Medium-I primarily work with oil on copper and wood. I prefer a smooth none-absorbant surface because I like to let the paint and the pigments speak for themselves.
